Join The Arc of Illinois for the Ligas Family Advocate Program Special Topics webinar on the “Ligas Consent Decree” on Oct. 18 from 12 to 1 p.m.

The Ligas vs. Hamos lawsuit was filed on July 28, 2005, on behalf of adults with developmental disabilities living in private, state-funded Intermediate Care Facilities for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (ICFs/DD) and adults with developmental disabilities living at home who want to move to community-based services or settings.

Approved in 2011, the Ligas Consent Decree applies to Illinois residents with developmental disabilities who are 18 and older and qualify for Medicaid waiver services.

Speakers Barry Taylor with Equip for Equality and Ronnie Cohn and Mike Vespa from the Illinois Department of Human Services will provide participants:

• An overview of the Ligas Consent Decree
• An update on the decree’s current status
• Information on work focused on the decree

The panel will also allow time for audience questions.
