A free webinar for individuals who want to learn about Harry’s Buttons and the benefits and challenges of running this social enterprise

Join a bonus edition of The Arc of Illinois’ Illinois Lifespan Program (ILS) Lunchtime Webinar series for “Easterseals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford’s Social Enterprise Featuring Harry’s Buttons” on Sept. 13 from 12 to 1 p.m.

Speaker Jason Reis is the employment services coordinator for Easterseals Serving Chicagoland and Greater Rockford. His team creates employment, job training and volunteer opportunities for individuals with autism, emotional disability, developmental delay and intellectual disability.

Reis will provide an overview of Easterseals’ academies in the Chicago and Rockford areas and Harry’s Buttons, which employs adults with disabilities to make buttons (pins), magnets, t-shirts and more. Participants will meet some of the people employed at Harry’s Buttons and see how the job “works” for them Participants will also learn about:

  • The benefits and challenges associated with running a social enterprise as a small program within a larger nonprofit agency
  • Customizing jobs to the skills of its employees
  • How Harry’s Buttons helped maximize the potential of its workforce
