Webinar – “Application of Strategies for Fostering JOY: Suggestions for Professionals and Families”
A presentation for parents and professionals on the beneficial impact of focusing on joy and how to support families with a child who is deaf or hard-of-hearing in finding and cultivating joy in their everyday experiences.
The National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM) is hosting this free webinar “Application of Strategies for Fostering JOY: Suggestions for Professionals and Families” on July 8 from 1 to 2 p.m.
Parents and professionals continue to collaborate to assist families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) to experience joy in their family journey. This presentation lays the groundwork for the importance and scientific benefits of fostering joy, even – or perhaps especially – at a time when life is posing difficult challenges for so many of us.
Presenters are:
- Amy Szarkowski, Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf
- Beth Jones, Nevada Hands & Voices
- Jennifer Clark, Hawaii Department of Health Early Intervention
This webinar also includes a new reflective tool for families, a tip sheet for professionals and these learning objectives:
- Describing at least two science-based benefits of positivity and/or gratitude
- Identifying two or more strategies that could be used by a professional working with families or a family member who has a child who is DHH
- Creating a self-statement about what it would mean in one’s own life to be a “Joy Ambassador”
Live captioning will be provided. Visit the webinar registration page to sign up.
