A free, educational webinar for families, self-advocates, educators and service providers about respite awareness, training and support

Join Connect to Community’s Friday Forum Seminars for “An Introduction to the Illinois Respite Coalition” on April 8 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Over one million people in the state of Illinois provide unpaid help to family members who have special needs. It is estimated that if the work of these caregivers had to be duplicated by paid staff, the cost to the state would be $1.3 billion.

Respite care is a gift of time for the caregiver, alleviating stress and improving relationships.

Alexis Ivanic will provide participants with information about the Illinois Respite Coalition (IRC), a not-for-profit organization of caregivers and respite providers dedicated to:

  • Increasing public awareness of the importance of “Lifespan Respite”
  • Promoting education and training for families and providers of respite services
  • Advocating for caregivers by ensuring access to quality respite services

This webinar is designed to provide information related to the transition process as well as life in the community after educational entitlements end.

The event is free but registration is required by April 6.
