The Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics is hosting a free transition-focused webinar at 12 p.m. April 24 titled “Aiding Adolescents to Take Control of Their Health.”

Encouraging adolescents to become involved in taking care of their health is beneficial and especially important. The behavioral patterns set during adolescence helps to determine youth’s current health status and their risk for developing chronic diseases into and during adulthood.

Adolescence is a critical transitional period and by incorporating health involvement early can aid in the reduction of poor health outcomes and encourage healthy development. This training will provide pediatric providers with tools and resources to address patients and families within their practice to support adolescents’ involvement in their health care.
