A six-week writers workshop via Zoom for young adults ages 18 and older with and without disabilities

Tellin’ Tales Theatre will host the Young Adults Writers Workshop from June 2 to July 7 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The workshop will be held each Wednesday via Zoom.

The program culminates in a live performance on July 24. Writers will have the option of performing live at the Sulzer Regional Library, 4455 N. Lincoln Ave., in Chicago or videotaping their story to show live during the performance.

A taped video performance will also be available on Vimeo from July 23 through 31.

This year’s writers workshop theme is “Connecting the Dots”.  Each writer will examine experiences and events from their lives to find the “big picture.” Students will learn:

  • Collaboration skills
  • Specific writing techniques
  • How to find and develop your unique voice
  • Perfect performance skills to draw your audience in

The program is led by Tellin’ Tales Theatre Program Director Stephen Donart who has a master’s in theater and curriculum instruction and design and more than 30 years of experience teaching, directing and performing for schools and the professional stage.

The workshop price is $50.  However, Tellin’ Tales wants its programs to be accessible to all and supports the pay-what-you-can model.
