“Trauma’s Influence on the Play of Young Children With Disabilities” Workshop in East Moline
A free in-person workshop exploring the impact of early childhood trauma, fostering healthy development, and providing support through IEP and 504 plans
Join STAR NET Region I and III and the East Moline School District for “Trauma’s Influence on the Play of Young Children With Disabilities” on April 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Having a disability may put children at greater risk for child abuse and medical trauma.
Learn from presenter Elizabeth Frisbie how experiencing trauma can affect:
- The way a child plays
- Interactions with peers
- A child’s cognitive development and capacity for engagement
Frisbie will also provide participants with tips and key steps for:
- Fostering play skills
- Creating an environment for healthy development
- Ensuring supports are in the Individual Education Program (IEP) and 504 plans
Frisbie has worked with young children, their families and educators for over 25 years as a psychotherapist, behavior specialist, mental health consultant and parent educator.
Participants should have basic trauma training before taking this in-person training. Individuals can access “Introduction to Trauma: For Early Childhood Professionals” anytime on STAR NET’s website.
