Touch a Truck Event in Belleville
Free event at the Belleville Police Department for children of all ages and abilities and their families
Join the Belleville Police Department for Belleville’s first annual Touch a Truck Event on April 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event will include a sensory-friendly quiet hour from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. During that time, there will be no sirens, horns or lights.
People of all ages and abilities can see and touch many big trucks and equipment and meet the people who serve their community.
Belleville’s first ever Touch a Truck event will provide children and individuals who are nonverbal or have autism or other disabilities an opportunity to:
- Meet first responders, firefighters and law enforcement officials face-to-face
- Ask questions and see the uniforms, trucks and other vehicles up close
- Get more comfortable with the vehicles and people in uniforms
Parents and caregivers can also register their children with 911 dispatch. Registering with 911 Dispatch can help during an emergency situation if your child wanders off or needs help by quickly providing first responders with basic information and a photo of your child. Registration is easy and a photographer will be available to take your child’s photo.
Activities will also include:
- Family resources
- Police swag
- Tour of the police department and patrol cars
- Food trucks
See the Touch a Truck flyer for more details.
The event is free and open to the public.
