“Strive to Thrive” Camps for Students Who Are Visually Impaired in Jacksonville

Spark your inner leader, build your transition skills and have fun with Illinois students ages 9 to 19 who are blind and visually impaired

The Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) will offer three “Strive to Thrive” camps from June 10-14 on the ISVI campus in Jacksonville.

Students will make friends, explore exciting learning opportunities and have fun at these exciting camps designed for different age groups:

  • Junior STEAM Camp is for ages 9 to 12. Engage in team-building activities that apply science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) skills. Discover and experience different STEAM concepts through games, fun activities, music, art and sports.
  • STEAM Camp is for ages 12 to 16. Students will problem-solve strategies using STEAM skills, integrating technology, engineering and team-building with sports and gam
  • Transition to Independence is for ages 16 to 9. Plan your future by learning independent living skills to promote a successful transition to adulthood. Enjoy various activities focusing on nutrition, fitness, technology, employment skills and recreation.

Students who are visually impaired and ages 9 to 19 are eligible to attend the camp if they:

  • Reside in Illinois
  • Do not currently attend ISVI
  • Are not high school graduates
  • Have appropriate independent living skills

You can also fill out this online form to request a registration packet. Space is limited. The last day to request an application packet is April 30. You must return your application to ISVI by May 13.
