Free workshop about services available to disabled youth as they transition to adulthood.

As a parent/guardian of a child or adult with developmental disabilities, you likely have many questions about services that are available to your son or daughter as they get older. There are many things to consider when planning for their future. It is very important that you begin contacting outside service providers as soon as possible due to waiting lists that may take years to allow your child to begin receiving services. But, it’s not always easy to know where to start and what’s available.

This workshop will help answer some of the questions you may have be featuring information and presentations from key service agencies, including UIC Division of Specialized Care for Children.

Presentation topics will include: PUNS, guardianship, DHS and DRS services, living/group homes and independent living centers and tours of the Christian County Mental Health Association Workshop.

Service agencies will be present from 5 to 6:30 p.m. to share information about available services and resources. Agency presentations will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Please RSVP by March 19 to Randi Riemann at (217) 526-8121, ext. 237, or Randi.riemann@midstatespec.org or Kim Barringer at (217) 824-9675 or kbarringer@ccmha.net.

Child/adult care will be available at no charge but the individual must be pre-registered by March 16. Light refreshments will be provided.
