“Special Education 101: Everything Educators and Families Need to Know!” in Chicago
Free in-person workshop focusing on special education terminology, understanding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other topics
Join STAR NET Chicago Region V for “Special Education 101: Everything Educators and Families Need to Know!” on Aug. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This basic workshop is for anyone who wants a better understanding of special education acronyms, terminology and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
STAR NET Chicago Region V project director Evelyn Green will cover topics including:
- Acronyms and common terms for special education and/or children with special needs
- Up-to-date terminology when referring to a child or talking with parents
- Parents’ and educators’ rights and responsibilities under IDEA including Part C (EI)
Evelyn will also discuss characteristics of the most common disabilities that occur during the early childhood years.
