Special Camps Overnight Camp in Oregon, Ill.
Overnight camp opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities ages 8 and older
Special Camps is an overnight, all-volunteer-run camp for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
While families and caregivers get a week-long respite, trained staff and 24-hour nursing provide a safe place for campers to explore new opportunities encouraging independence, self-esteem and friendships.
Special Camps 2023 overnight sessions will be held on:
- June 4 – 9 for adult campers ages 23 and up
- June 11 – 16 for campers ages 8 to 22
- June 18 – 23 for adult campers ages 23 and up
Special Camps takes place at White Pines Ranch in Oregon, Ill. Dorm rooms are carpeted, air-conditioned and have attached bathrooms.
Alongside a teen volunteer and trained adult supervisors, campers will enjoy activities including:
- Swimming, archery and outdoor sports
- Horseback riding and grooming
- Arts and crafts
- Hayrides, campfire songs and s’mores

The cost is $350 per camper. Scholarships may be available.
