Spark your inner leader, build your transition skills and have tons of fun with Illinois students ages 9 to 19 who are blind and visually impaired

The Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) will offer three “Spark Your Inner Leader” camps from June 11-15 on the ISVI campus in Jacksonville.

Students will make friends, explore exciting learning opportunities and have fun at these exciting camps designed for different age groups:

  • Junior S.T.E.A.M. Camp is for ages 9 to 12. Engage in team-building activities that apply science, technology, engineering, arts and math (S.T.E.A.M.) skills. Discover and experience different S.T.E.A.M. concepts through games, fun activities, music, art and sports.
  • S.T.E.A.M. Camp is for ages 12 to 16. Students will problem-solve strategies using S.T.E.A.M. skills, integrating technology and engineering and team-building with sports and games.
  • Transition to Independence is for ages 16 to 9. Plan your future by learning independent living skills that will promote a successful transition to adulthood. Enjoy a variety of activities focusing on nutrition, fitness, technology, employment skills and recreation.

Students who are visually impaired and ages 9 to 19 are eligible to attend the camp if they:

  • Reside in Illinois
  • Do not currently attend ISVI
  • Are not high school graduates
  • Have appropriate independent living skills

The cost is $15 per camper. Scholarships are available by calling Heather Staats at (217) 479-4447.

See the ISVI summer camp flyer for more details on all three sessions.

Space is limited. The last day to request an application packet is April 30. You must return your application to ISVI by no later than May 20.
