Sensory-Friendly Holiday Concert in Palatine

A special night of music for individuals with disabilities and their families.

Harper College Symphony Orchestra and the Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA) are hosting a sensory-friendly concert for individuals with disabilities and their families. The concert is scheduled for Dec. 9 from 7 to 7:45 p.m. at Harper College’s Performing Arts Center.

NWSRA staff will be available to help families before, during and after the concert to increase everyone’s ability to learn concert etiquette and be successful.

Lights will be kept low, and wiggling and noises will be tolerated.

Orchestra members will be in the lobby before the concert to play music and share information about their instruments.

Autism Movement Therapy will also do demonstrations in the lobby.

The cost is $5 per ticket.

To order tickets, call NWSRA at (847) 392-2848. Tickets may be picked up at the NWSRA office before Dec. 1 or at the box office at Harper College the evening of the concert.

All money raised will go to the Special Leisure Services Foundation to continue to support recreation services for individuals with disabilities in the northwest suburbs.
