A free series of beginner and advanced classes on cooking, music and art for sixth grade through college-age students

Third Presbyterian Church’s Summer Clubs will begin on July 9. The two-hour classes will meet each Saturday through July 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or 1 to 3 p.m. Beginner and advanced level classes are available.

Classes are at Third Presbyterian Church, 1030 North Seventh St., in Springfield.

The Saturday Clubs are a great place to make friends, learn new skills and explore your interests in:

  • Cooking – Chef Jacqueline Jarju will help you create tasty meals while learning about proper food handling and preparation.
      • The beginner class is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
      • The advanced class is from 1 to 3 p.m.
  • Music – Join Dequan Stamps to explore a variety of music genres, learn to play rhythm instruments and create musical presentations.
  • Art from Upcycling – Springfield Art Association artist Alana Reynolds will lead participants in using recycled materials from the Creative Reuse Marketplace to create works of art.
      • The advanced sessions for both the music and art from upcycling classes will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
      • The beginner classes will be from 1 to 3 p.m.

Youth must be in at least the sixth grade to participate.
