Opening Doors Conference at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired
A free, three-day event for parents/guardians and their children with a visual impairment ages birth to 5.
Illinois parents or guardians and their children with visual impairments are invited to attend the 36th annual Opening Doors conference at the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired in Jacksonville.
This year’s conference is June 3-5. The three-day event is for Illinois parents or guardians and their children with visual impairments and additional disabilities who are 5 years old or younger.
Opening Doors aims to:
- Provide parents with information and resources on issues related to young children with visual impairments.
- Provide parents with opportunities to interact with other parents raising children with visual impairments.
- Provide the opportunity for participants to gain information specific to their child.
- Provide children an opportunity to interact with peers.
Registration, food and housing during Opening Doors is free. More details and registration information can be found in the Opening Doors brochure.
The deadline to register is April 15. Opening Doors can welcome a maximum of 25 children/families.
