A fun, in-person gathering for siblings of children with special needs
Options & Advocacy for McHenry County SibShops on Feb. 5 from 9 – 11:30 a.m. has been CANCELED (The next meeting will be in-person on March 5).
SibShops are usually held the first Saturday of each month at Options & Advocacy, 365 Millennium Drive, Suite A, in Crystal Lake.
The Sibshops group is for 8- to 14-year-old siblings of kids with special needs.
Sibshops are engaging celebrations of the many contributions made by brothers and sisters of kids with special needs. They are a spirited mix of new games (designed to be unique, off-beat and appealing to a wide ability range), new friends and discussion activities. They are not therapy, although their effect may be therapeutic for some children.
SibShops will be meeting in-person this season and following the same COVID-19 protocols as most schools (masks required, temperature readings, etc.) unless state and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines change.
