Low-Cost Computer Curbside Event in Alton
An event to get low-cost quality computers into the homes of individuals, families and nonprofits with low income
Illinois PCs for People is hosting a computer curbside event on Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is at Trinity AME Alton Tech Aid/Trinity AME Church, 626 E. Fourth St., in Alton.
PCs for People is a national nonprofit social enterprise providing affordable technology and internet service to low-income individuals, families with children, those with disabilities and nonprofits.
PCs for People works with various community partners statewide to receive and refurbish computers that are redistributed to eligible residents to improve access to:
- Remote learning
- Working from home
- Telemedicine
- Other requirements of everyday life
To be eligible, residents must be below 135 percent of the poverty level and enrolled in income-based government assistance programs, such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid or Federal Housing Assistance.
