Latin American Health Weeks Community Health & Resource Fair in Chicago
Free services and screenings to help improve the health and well-being of Latinos.
Thirteen Latin America Consulates in Chicago collaborate with government agencies, universities, hospitals, community-based organizations and volunteers to manage a series of health events during Latin American Health Weeks (LAHW) to improve the health and well-being of Latinos living in Illinois.
One of the highlights of LAHW is the annual community health fair scheduled for Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harrison Park in Chicago. The following free services will be available:
- Dental screenings
- Cholesterol and glucose tests
- Body mass index screenings
- Blood pressure and vision testing
- HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted disease screenings
- Hepatitis C and kidney function testing
- Skin cancer testing
- Flu vaccines
- Medical and mammogram referrals
- Mental health assessments
Resource information from more than 50 organizations, including UIC’s Division of Specialized Care for Children, will also be available to families.
