Keshet Avodah Corps at Camp Chi
A camp experience for older teens and young adults with disabilities that combines work-related activities with camp recreation
JCC Chicago and Keshet are partners in providing opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. These opportunities include a variety of day, overnight and family camps throughout the summer at Camp Chi located on Lake Delton in Wisconsin.
Keshet Avodah Corps at Camp Chi is for youth and young adults from 10th grade to 21 years old who want to work and enjoy camp life.
Sessions run from two to eight weeks from June to August.
Due to the many different camps and opportunities available, Keshet Avodah Corps at Camp Chi requests that interested campers complete an information form to best match their interests with the opportunities available. Visit the Camp Chi website for the form.
The Keshet Avodah Corps at Camp Chi combines work-related activities with camp recreation. Avodah members are staff at Camp Chi and live alongside other participants while gaining valuable life skills and work experience.
Work assignments and job coaches are assigned based on an individual participant’s interests and abilities. Past examples of jobs include:
- Working in the office and sorting mail
- Helping groom horses at the stables
- Assisting in the art center
- Setting up the dining hall for meals
- Overseeing the camp garden
- Preparing Perlstein Retreat Center for guests
There’s plenty of time for fun, too, with daily swimming, fitness, campfires, sports and more!
The Camp Chi website has more information and the camper interest form.
The camp features an inclusion coordinator who meets with families to understand the camper’s needs and make sure that they are met.
