Illinois Spina Bifida Association’s GoBabyGo Workshop
Children with spina bifida ages 1-5 are eligible to receive a free, custom, electric ride-on car.
Illinois children with spina bifida who will be age 1 to 5 on June 1 are eligible to receive a free, customized electric car at a GoBabyGo workshop hosted by the Illinois Spina Bifida Association (ISBA), statewide Kiwanis Clubs, led by the Kiwanis Club of River Forest and Oak Park, and volunteer engineers and clinicians from the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
GoBabyGo is a program of the University of Delaware committed to all people exploring their world via independent mobility.
The workshop is scheduled for 11 a.m. June 1 at Shriners Hospitals for Children – Chicago.
There is a $40 refundable deposit required to register and receive a car. Space is limited and registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
In order to receive a car, the child must have:
- Cognitive age of 12 months or greater
- Head and trunk control
- No severe visual disorder
- Enthusiastic parent(s) with ability to supervise a child in a car
