One-week camping adventure for youth 15-19 who are blind or visually impaired.

Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) summer camps bring together students who are blind and visually impaired from schools throughout Illinois for a week-long learning adventure. Each camp will present an overview of current trends in an area of concentration.

All camps are scheduled for June 16-22 on the ISVI campus in Jacksonville.

The Transition to Independence Camp  will allow campers to learn about independent living skills that promote successful transition to adulthood through:

  • Nutrition
  • Fitness
  • Technology
  • Employment skills
  • Recreation

Students who are visually impaired ages 15 to 19 are eligible to attend if they:

  • Reside in Illinois
  • Do not currently attend ISVI
  • Are not high school graduates
  • Have appropriate independent living skills

There will be a fee of $15. No student will be denied an opportunity to attend camp solely for an inability to pay. Scholarships are available by calling Barbi Ballard at (217) 479-4446.
