One-week camping adventure for youth ages 9-12 who are blind or visually impaired.

Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) summer camps bring together students who are blind and visually impaired from schools throughout Illinois for a week-long learning adventure. Each camp will present an overview of current trends in an area of concentration.

All camps are scheduled for June 16-22 on the ISVI campus in Jacksonville.

The Junior STEM Camp will allow campers to engage in team-building activities that apply STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills to unearth their talents and treasures. Campers will discover and experience these concepts through games, building with 3D materials and music.

Students who are visually impaired ages 9 to 12 are eligible to attend if they:

  • Reside in Illinois
  • Do not currently attend ISVI
  • Are not high school graduates
  • Have appropriate independent living skills

There will be a fee of $15. No student will be denied an opportunity to attend camp solely for an inability to pay. Scholarships are available by calling Barbi Ballard at (217) 479-4446.

For more information and to register, visit the ISVI Summer Camp Program website. The deadline for registration is May 3.
