Children with disabilities can gain confidence and independence by learning to ride a bike in just one week!

Join the Children’s Therapy Center of the Quad Cities for “iCan Bike Camp” from June 9 to 13. Riders will attend one 75-minute session each day.

Using adapted bicycles, spotters and an encouraging environment, this program turns “I can’t” into “I can!”

For five consecutive days, children and youth ages 8 to 18 with disabilities will learn to ride a two-wheel bicycle. Camp staff will adjust the bikes during the week to help riders learn to balance, gain important skills and discover the joy of riding.

Rider benefits include:

  • Increased self-esteem and confidence
  • Improved physical fitness, mental health and overall quality of life
  • Independent transportation and inclusion opportunities

Campers must have a disability and be at least 8 years old to participate. Other requirements include:

  • Attending all five days of camp
  • Having a minimum inseam of 20 inches
  • Weighing less than 220 pounds
  • Walking without assistive devices and being able to side-step to both sides
  • Willing to wear a properly fitted helmet
