Four Rivers Environmental Education Center Sensory Sunday in Joliet
A free opportunity for people with sensory-processing needs to explore the center and trails
Four Rivers Environmental Education Center invites you to enjoy “Sensory Sunday” on Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Experience the exhibits and trails with less noise and fewer people. People of all ages with social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder or other sensory-processing needs are welcome.
Staff will be on hand to help visitors learn about the local habitat through interactive exhibits, activities and/or crafts. The center will also have a limited supply of items for guests to check out during their visit, including:
- Handheld audio units providing a narrative of the All-Persons Trail for guests who have visual impairments or who need cognitive support
- Buddy bags with sensory gadgets
- Noise-canceling headphones
This is an indoor program. Outdoor paved trails are also available.
The event is free.
