Athletes vs Epilepsy – Epilepsy Awareness Night

The University of Illinois Men’s Basketball Team is hosting the Athletes vs Epilepsy – Epilepsy Awareness Night at 8 p.m. Dec. 11 in Urbana-Champaign.

The Fighting Illini will light the State Farm Center purple as they take on Michigan.

Players will wear Athletes vs Epilepsy shirts before the game. Purple pom-poms and “Athletes vs Epilepsy – Strength Over Epilepsy” bracelets will be distributed at gate entrances to fans to cheer on the team and show their support. About 1,000 rally towels will be given to students in attendance.

Pre-game ceremonies will include a check presentation from the Orange Krush to the Epilepsy Foundation. Half-time will include an Orange Krush Knockout Tournament championship game with proceeds benefitting the Epilepsy Foundation.

Jamall Walker, a member of the Fighting Illini Men’s Basketball staff, and his wife, Rebekah, are ambassadors for Athletes vs Epilepsy. Their son, Braylon, had his first seizure in January of 2017. The second seizure came two weeks later, followed by the diagnosis of epilepsy.

Athletes vs Epilepsy is a nationwide program with a variety of opportunities and events for people of all ages and skill levels to raise funds and awareness for the Epilepsy Foundation.
