An overnight family camping experience for deaf and hard-of-hearing (HOH) youth and their families
The Chicago Park District is hosting this overnight family camping trip on Oct. 2 – 3.
Check-in is on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. Check-out is on Sunday after 11 a.m. following breakfast or when your campsite is cleared. Reservations must be made by Sept. 22.
This Northerly Island family camping experience will be packed with fun and provide the know-how needed to go camping on your own.
Plan to go fishing, hiking and bird watching. You’ll also learn how to build a campfire without using matches and enjoy games, roasting marshmallows and making s’mores, and American Sign Language storytelling around the campfire.
The cost is $25 per family (a maximum of six per tent) and includes camping gear, tent, sleeping bags, utensils, dinner and breakfast. You may also bring your favorite foods, snacks, sleeping bags, pillows and stuffed animals.
Participants must be 6 or older and have a parent or guardian present at all times.
