Disabilities Awareness Walk and Resource Fair in Chicago
Walk and health fair for parents, children, family members, community members, professionals, educational staff, etc. who are involved in the care of extraordinary children.
The Second Annual United Communities for Diverse Abilities Walk and Resource Fair to increase awareness is on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear a t-shirt representing a diagnosis. Be as inventive and creative as you wish. Stay after the walk to receive information on therapy, health and safety, YMCA programs, advocacy, financial assistance and much more.
Scheduled activities include:
- 10 a.m. – Parent/Child Yoga – Multi-Purpose Room
- 11 a.m. – Disability Awareness Walk – 2-3 laps around track
- 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Resource Fair – Gym
- 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. – IEP Training – Multi-Purpose Room
The event also features a bounce house and free face painting.
Limited healthy snacks and additional food for purchase will be available.
Our Chicago staff will also be available to explain our program and how we help connect children with special healthcare needs to services and resources.
