Celebrate Chicago Deaf Awareness Day at Columbia College Chicago.

The American Sign Language Department is hosting this event for all community members – hearing and deaf, students and non-students – on Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Deaf Awareness Day will showcase agencies and businesses who provide a variety of services and products to people who are deaf, deaf-blind, hard of hearing, late-deafened or interpreters.

Chicago ASL Slam, part of the national movement known as ASL Slam, will provide special entertainment during the lunch hour.  The audience will participate in language-related improvisational games such as storytelling, poetry and humor, which are all shown in American Sign Language.

Our Chicago Regional Office staff will be available to explain how our program can support children and youth with special healthcare needs and their families.
