Chicagoland Dragon Boat Training
A weekly practice session for Adaptive Adventures’ Team Blue dragon boat team
Join Adaptive Adventures for this dragon boat training event on May 13 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This event is the weekly practice session for the Adaptive Adventures’ Team Blue dragon boat team.
Practice is held at Frances Mennone Boat House, 1020 W. Weed St., in Chicago. Participants are expected to arrive promptly at 5:30 p.m. so that everyone is ready and on the water at 6 p.m.
Have you ever wanted to race down the Chicago River in a dragon boat?
Now’s your chance.
Each week, Team Blue meets to practice and prepare for the China Town Dragon Boat Festival and the Chicago International Dragon Boat Festival, where dragon boat teams from across the country will compete.
Participants must be 18 years or older, able to self-transfer up or down by 12-plus inches, and be comfortable in close confines with other athletes in narrow seating. Swimming skills are recommended.
Training will be progressive and include:
- Paddling techniques, being efficient and effective with your new unit
- Moving the dragon boat with speed and stealth
- Improving fitness
Register for dragon boat training online. Registration is required to attend.
Participants are asked to attend as many practices as possible.
If you register and are no longer able to attend or have questions, please contact Greg Zbrzezny at Greg@adaptiveadventures.org.
