Camp Red Kite “Performing in the Park: Tales with Tails”
Theater arts camp for students going into first and second grade
The Chicago Children’s Theatre’s (CCT) Camp Red Kite will host “Performing in the Park: Tales with Tails” from June 20 to July 1 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Drop-off is from 8:30 to 8:55 a.m.
The camp will be held at the Whitney Young Magnet High School, 211 S. Laflin St., in Chicago.
Campers will collaborate with professional theatre artists to explore classic animal folktales from all over the world and create stories for the stage full of music, improv storytelling and movement.
Daily camp activities include play-based dramatic storytelling, music, crafts, outdoor play and free-choice time to nurture social and emotional learning, friendship and imagination.
At the end of the week, students will perform a final show for families theatre-in-the-park style at Skinner Park, 1331 W. Adams St.
Prior to camp, registrants will have the option to sign up for free aftercare at CCT (100 S Racine) or agree to pick their child up immediately after camp at Whitney Young at 3:30 pm.
