Camp Red Kite “Performing in the Park: Sagas from the High Seas” in Chicago
Theater arts camp for students going into second and third grade
The Chicago Children’s Theatre’s (CCT) Camp Red Kite will host “Performing in the Park: Sagas from the High Seas” on July 5 to July 15 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Drop-off is from 8:30 to 8:55 a.m.
The camp will be held at Whitney Young Magnet High School, 211 S. Laflin St., in Chicago.
Ahoy, mateys!
Through dramatic storytelling and guidance from professional theatre artists, campers will create a pirate play for the outdoor stage. Participants will learn about story structure while embodying different characters and crafting a nautical story all their own.
Daily activities include:
- Play-based dramatic storytelling
- Music
- Crafts
- Outdoor play
- Free choice time to nurture social and emotional learning, friendship and imagination
At the end of the week, students will perform a final show for their families theatre-in-the-park style at Skinner Park, 1331 W. Adams St.

Register for Camp Red Kite online. Registrants may sign up for free aftercare at CCT (100 S. Racine) or agree to pick their child up immediately after camp at Whitney Young at 3:30 pm.
