A week-long summer camp experience for youth and young adults with and without Down syndrome

PALS Programs creates inclusive camp experiences for people with and without Down syndrome. Participants with Down syndrome are paired one-to-one with a peer without Down syndrome. Teams spend the week together participating in a wide range of activities.

Two Camp PALS sessions are scheduled in Illinois at Elmhurst University (formerly Elmhurst College):

  • PALS Chicago I –  June 26 to July 2 for campers with Down syndrome ages 12 – 17 ( 15 -17 for peers)
  • PALS Chicago 2 – July 17 to 23 for ages 18 and up

Programming includes experiencing life on a college campus through a dynamic blend of unique on-campus activities and off-campus trips to explore local sites and attractions.

No experience is needed to participate in a PALS program.  All participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to participate in programs.

The cost of camp for participants with Down syndrome is $2,000. PALS works with every participant to ensure that cost is never a barrier and offers a variety of financial options to assist families. Contact PALS directly for help or questions about these options at support@palsprograms.org.
