Camp Little Giant – Camp Olympia II
Camp for youth ages 8-21 with physical, cognitive or developmental disabilities on June 10-22.
Camp Little Giant’s focus is for the camper to be as independent as possible while still following routines and providing necessary assistance. Four to eight campers and a minimum of two counselors share a rustic cabin located near a washhouse and dispensary. Activity staff, nurses, volunteers and other support staff assist with the 24-hour supervision provided for each camper.
Nurses staff the camp dispensary 24 hours a day. They administer medications, handle routine first aid and respond to illness and medical emergencies. The Carbondale Center for Medical Arts and Memorial Hospital of Carbondale provide additional prompt medical service if necessary.
Camp Little Giant has specialized programs designed for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities, visual and hearing impairments, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, autism, ADD/ADHD, traumatic brain injuries and special needs individuals.
Camp Olympia Session II is for adults 21 and older with high-care needs, low mobility or using a wheelchair. This session is from June 10 to 22.
