Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s (SIUE) Camp Launch will run from July 11-18.

Check-in is on June 11 at 9 a.m. Check-out is on July 18 at 12 p.m.

Camp Launch is a fun, innovative overnight camp for youth between the ages of 14 and 22 who are deaf, deaf-blind or hard of hearing. It aims to equip campers with the skills needed to successfully navigate life after high school.

Campers will participate in various activities geared toward helping them transition from high school to college and employment. Activities will include:

  • Group instruction and individualized coaching to develop interpersonal skills for college, work and beyond
  • Twenty-four career-related assessments
  • Learning about self-advocacy and practicing new skills
  • Presentations from guest speakers who are deaf

Campers can also enjoy:

  • Staying in SIUE residence halls with chaperones
  • Exploring the campus
  • Taking field trips
  • Making art projects, games and other recreational activities
  • Eating together at the Morris University Center

Camp Launch partners include ACCESS Deaf Services, the Chicago Hearing Society, the Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), the Illinois School for the Deaf and 360 Degree Academy.

Camp Launch is free. Campers must be currently enrolled in high school, have an open case with DRS and be between the ages of 14 and 22 years old to attend.
