Back-to-School Event in Marion

A free back-to-school event is scheduled for July 23-24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bi-County Health Department in Marion.

Dr. Amy Wyatt, DMD, will provide dental exams to children under the age of 18 on a first-come, first-served basis on both Thursday and Friday.  Senior Dental Hygiene students of the SIUC Dental Hygiene Program will also provide cleanings, sealants and fluoride treatments.

The dental exam fulfills the state requirement that all children entering kindergarten, second grade, sixth grade and ninth grade receive a dental exam.

All participants will be required to wear a mask when coming within six feet of others.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organizers will distribute donated school supplies, including backpacks and haircut vouchers, to students in need in Franklin and Williamson counties.
