Join StarNet Region II for this family focused event “Anatomy of a Meltdown” on April 19 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Registration is from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
This in-person workshop will be at William F. Gurrie Middle School, 1001 S Spring Ave., in La Grange.
This workshop will help parents and caregivers understand the different aspects of a meltdown. It will also cover how to offer help and support during these difficult times.
Presenter Jennifer Rosinia will begin with an overview of the stress response system and sensory processing.
She will then take participants on a deeper dive into the meltdown process. Topics will include:
- What happens to the body when feeling overwhelmed, under attack or helpless
- Identifying triggers, signs and symptoms that a meltdown is starting
- Appropriate prevention and intervention strategies at each stage
Caregivers will leave the workshop ready to design prevention and interventions strategies based on their child’s needs.
