2025 Illinois School for the Visually Impaired Annual Parent Infant Institute in Jacksonville
A free, multi-day conference for parents and caregivers of children ages birth to 6 years old with vision loss
The Illinois School for the Visually Impaired (ISVI) is hosting its 42nd annual Parent Infant Institute/Opening Doors Program from June 4 through June 7. Families will check in from 2 to 5 p.m. on June 4.
Opening Doors is a multi-day conference at ISVI for parents and caregivers of children 6 years old or younger with visual impairments and other disabilities.
Families can explore a wide range of educational opportunities and resources. Session topics and activities will include:
- Make-it-take-it and networking activities
- Sessions on topics such as “Ask the Doctor,” independent living skills and more
- Functional Vision and Orientation and Mobility consultation for your child
- Evening workshops and group discussions
Representatives from the University of Illinois Chicago’s Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) will also be at ISVI to speak with families about our programs for children and youth with special healthcare needs. Our team members will answer your questions and provide information to help you connect with important resources.
Housing, food and registration for the event are all free.
