A conference to help students with disabilities and their families develop skills for making choices, using their voices and planning for transition to adulthood

The Illinois Family Leaders Collaboration is hosting the 16th Annual Conference for Families of Children with Disabilities “A Disability Roadmap for an Inclusive Life” on April 29 from 8:15 to 3:30 p.m.

This conference will focus on helping individuals with disabilities and their families ensure that they are developing the skills needed to:

  • Make choices (self-direction)
  • Use their voices (advocate)
  • Develop social/emotional skills, and are included in typical activities
  • Ensure access to general education curriculum and are exposed to careers and vocations

Keynote speakers will include Daniel and Samuel Habib and Bridget and Nancy Brown. Please see the conference flyer for their bios and more details.

Youth with disabilities in junior high and high school are encouraged to attend with a parent/guardian. There is no registration fee for the student.

The registration fee is $20 per family and $30 for professionals.

The Illinois Family Leaders Collaboration includes Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center (PTIC), The Arc of Illinois, STARNET, Heart of Illinois Down Syndrome Association(HOIDSP), Family Resource Center on Disabilities (FRCD),and Project Reach.
