The Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (ICAAP) is hosting its 10th Annual ABC Conference, “Building Capacity to Care for Children and Families with Special Needs,” on Nov. 22 at the Moraine Valley Business Center in Palos Hills.

This year, the conference keynote address is “Building Better Brains: The Core Story of Early Brain and Child Development-What Parents and Caregivers Can do to Help Children Develop Their Potential,” by ICAAP President, Dr. Mariana Glusman.

The learning objectives for the keynote address are:

  1. Understand the process of early brain, language and literacy development.
  2. Identify specific ways to empower caregivers to promote their children’s development to their full potential.
  3. Recognize pediatricians and other professionals that work with children can incorporate this advice into their daily practice with families.

Our Associate Director of Care Coordination Molly Hofmann and Assistant Director of Operations for the Home Care Program Mary Cole will also do a presentation on person-centered planning.
