Autism Timely Toolkits for Uncertain Times

The Autism Focused Intervention Resources and Modules (AFIRM) Timely Toolkits are designed to support autistic individuals, their caregivers, and related professionals as they navigate through specific global and/or local events that may disrupt or impact routines.

The Timely Toolkits include:

People’s Resource Center

People’s Resource Center (PRC) serves DuPage County residents. It offers a food pantry, computer access, financial assistance, an art program, a clothes closet and more. Residents need to register to receive services.

Northern Illinois Foodbank

The Northern Illinois Food Bank delivers food and healthy eating services across 13 counties (Boone, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will and Winnebago counties). The Northern Illinois Food Bank provides weekly drive-thru Mobile Markets with free and fresh groceries, an online food pantry, a recipes and nutrition hub, and free economic mobility learning resources.

Northeast Community Fund in Decatur

Northeast Community Fund helps families in the Decatur and Macon County community with food, clothing, household goods and funding for utility payments, obtaining IDs, baby formula and wipes, emergency lodging and prescription medicines. The organization’s food pantry provides monthly food baskets to those in need. It also operates a microfinance program and a program for families to work with a staff member and mentor to achieve short- and long-term goals to move towards self-sufficiency.

Springfield-Area Micropantries

The micropantries in Springfield and its surrounding communities in Sangamon County operate independently and allow people to take what they need and leave what they can.

The Good Samaritan Inn in Decatur

The Good Samaritan Inn provides meals to all those who need them, no questions asked. Meals are served seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Its programs also include Mercy Gardens and Mercy Market from June through October.

Good Samaritan Inn is located at 920 North Union St. in Decatur.

CountyCare COVID-19 Resources for Cook County

CountyCare provides information and resources for Cook County residents on getting vaccinated, and COVID-19 testing and staying up-to-date with boosters.

City of Chicago Rental Assistance Program

The Rental Assistance Program (RAP) provides funding to Chicagoans who are at risk of becoming homeless. RAP helps Chicagoans who have housing right now, but who may become homeless soon because they lost income or had another eligible emergency which prevents them from paying rent.

Food Pantry at Christ Church in East Moline and Silvis

The Food Pantry at Christ Church provides groceries to over 10,000 people annually at its Silvis and East Moline campuses.

Food is distributed at:

  • The Silvis Food Pantry, 1301 2nd Ave., on Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Wednesday from 3 to 6 p.m.
  • The East Moline Campus in the Family Life Center, 3801 7th Street, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
