CAMP BETA at Touch of Nature in Makanda
Overnight camp for children ages 9-15 with type 1 diabetes.
Camp is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 22, and Sunday, Sept. 23, at Southern Illinois University Touch of Nature. Camp BETA is free to all campers who meet the criteria. Opportunities are available for counselors-in-training for ages 16-17. Camp Check in is Saturday 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Believe in Yourself – Diabetes can be better managed with a positive attitude.
Empower Yourself – You are the one in control, not diabetes.
Talk – Be willing to ask for help and communicate with the right people about your needs.
Act – Take action to help you body by being proactive, eating healthy and taking your medications.
Weekend Activities Include:
- Ziplining
- Hayride
- Fishing
- Horseback Riding
- Team Building Exercises
- Hiking
- Arts and Crafts
