Virtual Conference – “Resources and Support for Individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and Mental Illness”
A virtual conference exploring symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, and resources for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) and mental health challenges
The Arc of Illinois will host its virtual “Resources and Support for Individuals with IDD and Mental Illness” conference on Nov. 14 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The conference will focus on individuals with IDD and co-occurring mental or behavioral health disabilities (dual diagnosis).
Presenters will cover a wide range of topics including:
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Real world advocacy, insights and support strategies from a passionate self-advocate
- The history of treatment and understanding the importance of an accurate diagnosis
- Cultural and ethical considerations in treatment
- Preventing suicide risk in people living with autism or intellectual disabilities
Attendees will leave the conference with strategies and tangible resources they can use for those they support.
The cost for The Arc of Illinois members is:
- $60 for self-advocates/family members
- $110 for professionals
The cost for non-members is:
- $90 for self-advocates/family members
- $170 for professionals
