Join the McLean County Health Department for Mental Health First Aid training on Jan. 18 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an eight-hour training that provides individuals with the tools to identify when someone may be struggling with a mental health or substance misuse problem. The training is open to the public.

Studies show the program reduces social distance created by negative attitudes and perceptions of individuals with mental illness.

The training will help participants grow their knowledge of the signs, symptoms and risk factors of mental illnesses and addictions as well as:

  • Identify multiple types of professional and self-help resources for individuals with a mental illness or addiction
  • Increase their confidence and likelihood of helping an individual in distress
  • Learn how to increase mental wellness themselves

The cost is $12 for McLean County residents and $30 for non-residents.  The cost includes a manual and course materials, snacks and lunch.

See the Mental Health First Aid flyer for more details.

Sign up online for the training.
