Envision Illinois is a collaborative project that brings together self-advocates and domestic violence and disability organizations across Illinois to transform services for people with disabilities and Deaf people who have experienced domestic violence.

Presenters Krescene Beck and Mary Hettel will discuss:

  • Domestic violence and its prevalence among people with disabilities
  • How to respond to a disclosure of or someone telling you about domestic violence that is happening
  • Why collaboration is key to supporting victims with disabilities
  • Resources available from the Envision Illinois Resource Corner

Krescene has a lifetime of experience supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She has focused on helping people with disabilities who experience violence for nearly two decades.

Mary began working with the Envision Illinois state team when the project was founded in 2013. In the last 10 years, she has helped build support and increase understanding about how domestic violence affects people with disabilities and Deaf people.
