A free webinar on supporting the health of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)

The Spring/Winter 2023 Healthy Brain Webinar Series for People with IDD kicks off with “Supporting the Health of People with Intellectual and Developmental Disability by Improving Health Literacy of Caregivers” on Feb. 28 from 9 to 10 a.m.

This webinar will focus on a recent research project supporting the health of people with IDD in Australia. The project included a “health literacy guide” written from the perspective of “what would be useful for a caregiver to know about supporting the health of a person with IDD.”

Senior Research Fellow and presenter Rachel Skoss, PhD, will discuss the project and also cover:

  • Different types of health literacy
  • How to use the guide to support health outcomes of people with IDD

Rachel brings lived experience as a caregiver/carer of a young person with IDD. She has also provided the caregiver perspective in various health, mental health and disability advisory groups.
