Free virtual or in-person learning opportunities for parents and caregivers of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities

The Arc of the Quad Cities Area Parent Learning Series kicks off with “ABLE Accounts: What’s New in 2022” on Oct. 27 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Individuals may participate in person at The Arc Building, 4016 Ninth St., in Rock Island or via Zoom.

This session will focus on IL ABLE accounts, which give people with disabilities greater financial independence while preserving federal benefits. Presenters Mary Anne Ehlert with Protected Tomorrows and  JJ Hanley, ABLE Director for the Illinois State Treasurer, will cover:

  • How IL ABLE accounts can help build financial wellness
  • What’s new for 2022-23
  • How and when to protect your child’s assets

Attendees will gain the tools and resources needed to help them create and protect the life they wish for their child, sibling or loved one.
