A free weekend camp for children and teens ages 6 to 15 who have experienced the death of a family member or close friend
BJC Hospice is hosting Stepping Stones overnight weekend camp from Aug. 12 to 14. Campers arrive on Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. and leave on Aug. 14 at noon.
The camp is held at Camp Wyman, 600 Kiwanis Drive, in Eureka, Mo.
Stepping Stones camp provides a safe place for campers to explore their grief and emotions, balanced with plenty of fun.
The bereavement camp, offered at no charge and led by professional staff and volunteers, is designed for children ages 6 to 15 who have experienced the death of a family member or close friend. Campers will gather at Camp Wyman for therapeutic activities to help them:
- Reflect on their feelings of grief
- Remember and honor their loved one in an atmosphere of understanding and encouragement
- Meet kids their own age, who are having a similar experience
There’s also plenty of swimming, games, crafts and a carnival.
Stepping Stones camp is open and free to any child who has lost a loved one, not only those who were served by BJC Hospice (service areas include Macoupin, Montgomery, Jersey, Madison, Bond, Fayette, Clinton, St. Clair, Monroe, Calhoun, Marion, Greene and portions of Pike and Perry counties).
See the Stepping Stones flyer for more details.
