Camp Red Kite “Performing in the Park: Campfire Chronicles”
Theater arts camp for students going into first through third grade
The Chicago Children’s Theatre’s (CCT) Camp Red Kite will host “Performing in the Park: Campfire Chronicles” from July 18 to July 29 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Drop-off is from 8:30 to 8:55 a.m.
The camp will be held at Whitney Young Magnet High School, 211 S. Laflin St., in Chicago.
Life is better by the campfire surrounded by friends, theatre and spooky stories.
Campers will spend two fun-filled weeks exploring classic campfire stories and folk tales and collaborating with theatre teaching artists to recreate their own campfire chronicles for the outdoor stage.
Daily activities include:
- Play-based dramatic storytelling
- Music
- Crafts
- Outdoor play
- Free choice time to nurture social and emotional learning, friendship and imagination
At the end of the week, students will perform a final show for their families theatre-in-the-park style at Skinner Park, 1331 W. Adams St.

Register for Camp Red Kite. Registrants need to sign up for free aftercare at CCT (100 S. Racine) or agree to pick their child up immediately after camp at Whitney Young at 3:30 pm.
