A free webinar for parents and professionals covering Cortical Visual Impairment and Ocular Visual Impairment differences, co-occurrence and interventions

The Illinois School of the Visually Impaired is hosting the “Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI) and Ocular Visual Impairment (OVI)” webinar on Sept. 10 from 10 – 11:30 a.m.

For many years, the educational interventions recommended for children with CVI were the same as those for children with ocular visual impairments (OVI).

As more research and information is available, it has become clear that children with CVI exhibit specific visual behaviors. The most effective interventions are built around those specific behaviors.

Presenter Dr. Roman-Lantzy, Director of The Pediatric View Program at The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh and an international leader in the field of visual impairment, will guide participants through the differences between OVI and CVI in terms of functional vision and visual characteristics. She will also discuss the co-occurrence of CVI and OVI.

Dr. Roman-Lantzy has trained countless professionals to perform appropriate assessments and create meaningful interventions for students with CVI. She is perhaps best known for her groundbreaking assessment tool, the CVI Range.
